"That's what writers do. We put pen to paper in times of devastating tragedy, we just try to make sense of it. Maybe we'll find clarity in some of those words. Maybe we'll find peace."

Not sure why I have no head? While everyone at work is sporting red, I just needed some spring colors today. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

My poor abandoned blog.

I was excited for a new year and a new blog -I had big plans for aprons & bows! Last year was probably one of the toughest years I've lived through.

My should-have-been-awesome job turned into a nightmare. I found out I had a really scary heart condition. My brother got sick, and I lost my best friend. At the end of the day, it still could have been so.much.worse. I still have so much to be thankful for. On the flip side, I learned that there is a big, HUGE difference between trucking through with a positive attitude, and just glossing over everything with with "It's fine! I'm good!", because I never really dealt with any of it.

Needless to say, even the really important things fell last on my list, but I really miss blogging, and I really miss all of you! So I'm glad to once again have a positive little corner of the internet to call my own. Be prepared to be bombarded with outfit posts and new recipes galore!

Halloween was pretty much a bust this year. I barely celebrated -I didn't even give out candy! So I’ll just share my very favorite Halloween with you.

A few years ago some of my best friends and I put together the best Halloween costume ever. It was a group costume. Two of us were graham crackers, one a Hershey bar, and the other a marshmallow. We even had some someone dress up as a bonfire!

We decided that college-aged girls were not to old to venture out trick-or-treating. I should have known I’d spend almost the entire night laughing when we walked off campus with a group of guys shouting “HEATHENS!” at us. Apparently going out on Halloween is frowned upon at Bible college. Who knew.

Our costume only worked when we all stood side by side, and since city stoops are tiny and do not fit 4-5 people at a time, no one knew what the heck we were supposed to be. We kept making poor Sarah (the marshmallow) go first to get candy. The look on peoples faces, and guesses as to what her costume was, were priceless. Note: Climbing stairs when you are wearing a sheet stuffed with pillows/a GIANT piece of cardboard is no small feat. We finally decided to just call it a night when Sarah’s pillows kept falling out.
